In February 2014, Experience Matters launched ACTIVE8 (pronounced “activate”), an innovative program that provides nonprofit organizations a roadmap for creating or enhancing their volunteer programs. The acronym represents the different components of the program: Assessment, Coaching, Training/Technical Assistance, In, Volunteer, Engagement. 8 represents the eight Leading Practices in volunteer management, which span from ground-level engagement, placement and evaluation of volunteers, to overarching issues of policies, infrastructure and technology.

The program includes:

•    Learning Labs, with half-day, full-day or 2-day workshops

•    Leading Practices Online Assessments, taken by a variety of audiences to identify areas of opportunities and potential projects

•    An Orientation/Overview for senior and board leadership, including assessment results and any outcomes achieved.

•    Coaching, working directly with the organization’s project team to plan, design and facilitate their ACTIVE8 project(s).
