This story is submitted by Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona sharing the story of Cherie Scott, a volunteer with Free Arts for 2 years and now our Volunteer Manager/Community Liaison.

Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona would like you to meet Cherie Scott. Cherie’s first career focused in management and marketing senior housing and assisted living communities. In 2011, Cherie was looking for a fulfilling volunteer opportunity that utilized her creative skills. She found a home as a Free Arts volunteer using art as an expressive tool to mentor abused and homeless children. For two years, Cherie gave her free time to support the mission of Free Arts. In 2013, an opportunity to join the Free Arts staff caught Cherie’s attention. She saw a clear alignment between her past professional skills and the Community Liaison and Volunteer Manager position at Free Arts. She could use her skill set organizing special events, developing community partnerships and engaging people of all ages for a common good. Free Arts recognized all that Cherie could bring to the team and hired her on staff in 2013.

Today, Cherie’s work has helped to increase volunteer recruitment and community partnerships for Free Arts. She helps others find fulfilling, meaningful volunteer opportunities. Free Arts is grateful that Cherie chose us for her second career!
