Q: What was your primary career and what did you love about it?
A: I was an Insurance Underwriter: it put bread on the table and more…I enjoyed working with people.
Q: When you retired, did you feel ‘finished’ or, for you, was there still something left to do?
A: For me, there was much to do after retirement: I did a lot of volunteer work in various areas.
Q: What inspires you and why?
A: Life is my inspiration: as I open my eyes each morning I thank God that I will have more opportunities to share with my fellow humans and at night I thank HIM/HER for putting up with me.
Q: How does your unique set of experiences make a difference for the community in your work now?
A: Frankly, I am slowing down a bit these days; age does catch up with you and there is no alternative, so one makes adjustments. These days sharing a smile, sharing experiences etc. seems to be enough.
Q: What’s your advice for boomers who are about to launch their own “second act”?
A: Don’t waste a minute. Volunteering is a great ” high” and the rewards keep coming and coming. Just remember to do it for the sake of helping someone and not looking for honors or recognition.
