Q:  What was your primary career and what did you love about it?

A:  I Entered the insurance business in a family run agency in New Jersey in 1970. Moved to Arizona 1979 and started and built my own independent  property/casualty/life/health insurance agency for over 30 years.  Wanted the challenge of getting away from the East Coast and moving to a place where nobody knew my name, and starting from scratch. My passion was really meeting new people and business and assisting them in their insurance needs. Sold the agency in 2011, and thought I’d. retire. Three years later after being extremely bored, received my teacher’s certification and am now a substitute teacher (K-12) in Scottsdale (AZ) Unified School District. LOVE WORKING WITH CHILDREN, PARTICULARLY THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. THE YOUNGER THE BETTER!

Q.:When you retired, did you feel ‘finished’ or, for you, was there still something left to do?

A:  I always knew I had a “second act”, and am blessed to have found it!

Q: What inspires you and why?

A:  Altruism, loving, caring, communicating and helping any and all. Not just students, but regular people I meet on a daily basis. Love to make people smile, laugh and add a little happiness to their day.

Q:  What’s your advice for boomers who are about to launch their own “second act”?

A:  The second act should be something you truly are passionate about and will enjoy. Forget the money… had your shot from 25 to 65. Now you are doing for yourself, with nothing to prove. Inner happiness and
satisfaction is prime purpose of living at this stage of life. Plant you feet firmly on the ground each morning, smell the roses and be thankful for your health and that you have the ability to help others.
